INTRODUCTION

In today's market, food companies are constantly introducing new products to remain competitive. The trend of health and wellness is at the forefront of consumer behaviour, with purchasing power being driver by a more educated and well-informed market. Food industries are thus innovating to produce healthier alternative products aligned to consumer's needs.

New technological innovations have made it possible to deliver foods with health benefits that are scientifically proven to the consumers. Many of such products have been designed to meet spesific requirements for specific health groups such as elderly, sportsmen, women, men, children etc., ensuring that each group will have optimum nutrients for their health. Product development is the lifeline of the food industry, from fine tuning an established product range to developing completely new products. It is, however, a process filled with risk if not done in a systematic manner.

With the theme 'Innovative Food for Specific Health Groups', this upcoming National Food Technology Seminar 2020 (NFTS 2020) will highlight product development know how, techniques for scientific validation, new technologies, regulatory and research guidelines for food innovation targeted for health and wellness as well as sharing of commercialisation success stories. The NFTS 2020 platform will also enable new business and networking opportunities. This seminar will consist of oral and poster presentations.
